What a thriller! The Crazies smacked a massive 156 from their 24 overs with most players making
double figures. Greg and Scotty were standouts with the bat hitting 25 and 28. Big Scotty
batted twice as the extra man and hit another 16 and his two innings included 7 big sixes
(earning him man of the match, just beating Scholzy, Robbie W, Gilby and Bluey).
Bluey showed his all round abilities taking 3 for -3 with the ball after he went for double figures
in his first over, courtesy of Hendo and Steve. Gilby can never be accused of bias, he batted for
Blighty's boys making 16 and bowled for the Crazies taking 3 for -5!
Blighty's boys were looking down the barrel but they underestimated the amount of grog the Crazies
had drunk and got off to an excellent start with partnerships of 27 and 48 before hitting a massive
hump with the next two pairs making only 13 between them! Things were looking bleak!
Then the last batsmen hit their stride with Lindsay hitting 16 and then a massive 25 in his second
bat as the extra man to just about get them over the line, but alas the batting combined with their
dubious (I don't want to say cheating)umpiring decisions was just not enough and they fell 18 runs short.
Special thanks to the girls for scoring and to Blighty for taking charge of the team when all the
talkers refused to put their hand up.
I think the day is best summed up by one man showing both ends of the skill scale, Conan.
Conan just walked onto the field with a VB in his hand and the ball got smashed at him, he stuck
one hand up, took the catch and didn't spill a drop. Then towards the end of the inning he came in
from the deep to field a ball that had been hit for a single and shouted the now famous words
"go on boys, test my arm" and then tripped over his feet and gave away 2 extra runs. BRILLIANT!
Next year we will pick new teams so like Johnson's Baby Shampoo, there will be no more tears!
So hopefully we can get two guys to put their hands up to be captain/organisers.
We also need someone to umpire the whole game and an official scorer.
